AKASO EK7000 4K30FPS 20MP WiFi Action Camera with EIS Ultra HD 131FT Waterproof Underwater Camera Remote Control 4X Zoom Support External Microphone Black
Ok, let's get straight to the point. If your idea of a good time includes squeezing every last drop of adrenaline from your life, or if you've developed an obsession with capturing your cat's most ridiculous zoomies, the AKASO EK7000 4K Action Camera would totally fit right in with you as your new best friend. It checks a lot of boxes: it performs well, it has good durability, and it doesn't cost a kidney. I mean, seriously, what more could you want?
Video and Photos: Punching Above Its Weight I'll be honest, this is no slouch when it comes to shooting in 4K at 30fps. For the price, that's pretty crazy. Your videos will look bright and crisp, not like you filmed it through a potato. Snap a photo, and that's a 20MP. So, whether you're flying down a mountain, ripping some waves, or just sprang for some dumb joke, your footage looks filmed by a professional.
Shaky Hands? No Problem. First up, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). While it's not exactly Hollywood, it will save your video footage from looking like found footage hell. You can run jump or tumble down a trail, and your footage will not make your friends sick.
Take it for a swim – included waterproof case. Not one of those "splash resistant" fakes, this thing can dive up to 131 feet. So go snorkeling, diving or toss it into your friend's pool for the next epic belly flop. No sweat.
Remote control = lazy genius. Who wants to keep running back and forth to hit record? Not me. The wireless wrist remote allows you to start action remotely. Perfect for those "I swear I landed that trick" moments when your hands are full, or you are halfway up a cliff.
Wi-Fi & Sharing : Straight to the ‘Gram The built-in Wi-Fi is an actual lifesaver. Download the AKASO GO app and editing & sharing your videos is done in seconds. No more messing with cables or digging out memory cards just to show off your latest adventure.
User Experience : Mostly Easy, A Few Annoyances You don’t need me to tell you that it is user-friendly. Once you get going you will find the included pile of accessories will get you going for whatever strange activity you are doing that week. Again I have to say the Micro SD slot is painfully stubborn, especially if you have weak thumbs. The menus are mostly good, but don’t expect Apple smoothness. You’ll figure it out.
Battery: Sometimes good, sometimes bad I found battery life to be a real lottery. Some people have a couple sessions with it, some barely get 30 minutes. Battery life depends on how you use it, so if you have a big day planned, I would consider carrying a spare or two.
The Bottom Line To be honest, for the money, the AKASO EK7000 is a bargain. You aren't getting GoPro-level polish, but you're not paying GoPro-level dollars either. The EK7000 gets the basics right, works just about anywhere, and you are going to get amazing footage for your trouble. So if you are looking for a camera to film your next adventure or simply want proof that you actually made it to the top of the hill—this little camera has you covered. Just remember to charge it.
